Bad Trip to Dover.

If you are an avid watcher of the weather reports as I like to think I am the following lesson will be a salutary reminder of Murphy’s Law
The morning of the 3rd May started out well bright skies, soft breeze (F3) from the southwest and a warm sun, perfect just as forecasted. Laying up Supper & Fire works Party

Well apart from our esteam commodore Chris Tappinham making what was markedly his worst speech this year all went well, the meal at the Kings Arms was very good, the company as with all good friends warm, and the wine flowed freely thanks to Jamie. A good night was had by all, Lets hope that next year the Commodore's speech will be more thoughtful or he will have to serve yet another year. The bonfire party look as thou it may be called off but in true bonfire spirt we all braved the elements...

Laying Up Supper-22nd Oct 2010

A good evening with 24 members and partners gracing the tables and judging by the plates enjoying the food placed before them! This is the only occasion during the year that we forsake "Frederica Johanna" and go 'out on the town' as a club.

Personally, I thought the venue fitted the bill, Mine Host and Hostess extremely obliging and pleasant. 

Its worth noting that the St Crispin Inn lets rooms and chalets for overnight stops (or longer)

16th Ramsgate East Brownies  On Saturday afternoon, 23rd October, Jan Holden brought her brownie pack to Sandwich and the barge to play skittles. The weather wasn’t kind but apart from a couple of very light showers it remained dry. WELL, the competition was fierce to say the least. Mr Mayor, Lady Mayoress, Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Sandwich Sailing and Motor Boat Club. The Committee and I are delighted that the Mayor of Sandwich and his lady wife, Sandra, could join us today.

Dressed Boat Parade - Sunday 29th August 2010

High Tide is during the day this year, so we'll be mustering at Gazen Salts at 1.00pm (BST). with the Parade through Sandwich Bridge and The Town starting at 1.15pm (bridge open 1.15-1.45pm).

Usually, we illuminate the boats, but this year, in daylight, we'll be dressing them. A "Carnival" theme has been suggested, but feel free to indulge your creative side!
